NRLC envisions a world in which the preservation of cultural property is appreciated and supported. Encouraging knowledge and understanding of our cultural heritage is a goal made possible only with the support of dedicated individuals.

NRLC also offers you the opportunity to establish a deeper connection with your profession, peers, and preservation interests. Through publications, conferences, workshops, and daily networking opportunities NRLC provides members with everything from the latest scholarly articles to job announcements and a community of peers.

Whether you are a career conservator with years of experience, an arts professional working with conservators, or an interested lay person, you will be enriched by being a part of our community. NRLC, as the professional association for conservators, is also the voice for the profession. By joining NRLC, you have the opportunity to help shape the field of conservation.

The social participation initiative sees the role of values and frames as having a great impact on the way we shape our public engagement strategies and practices into the future.

Inspired and passionate about heritage conservation? Social participation is an initiative, we see the role of values and frames as potentially having a great impact on the way we shape our public engagement strategies and practices into the future.

To build a more sustainable, equitable and democratic world, we need an empowered, connected and durable movement of citizens.

We cannot build this kind of conservation movement through appeals to people’s fear, greed or ego. Such motivations tend to produce shallow, short-lived types of engagement. They are also likely to backfire, actually reinforcing values that undermine social and environmental concern.

How then, do we go about finding solutions to the most important problems of preserving our heritage?

Fostering intrinsic values - among them self care of art objects, aware about handling historical objects, and concern for wrong treatment for any art object or monuments, rise voice. By acknowledging the importance of these values, and the frames that embody and express them; by examining how our actions help to strengthen their conservation; and by working together to cultivate them, we can create a more beautiful this world.

Volunteer with us:

It doesn't matter if you want to change a little or a lot. Whether you're passionate about telling stories, electrifying policy reform, transforming society, licking envelopes, or conservation education, there's a place for you in our community.
