Conservation of Oil Paintings at Mysore Palace, Myosre

At Mysore Palace, there are 31 large size Oil Paintings which have a great historical importance. All these paintings are related to famous Dussera festival of Mysore. On the request from District Commissioner of Mysore Conservation of all these paintings was taken up and their conservation was completed successfully from June, 2007 to November, 2008.

Conservation of Paintings of State Museum, Goa

The State Museum, Goa houses very expedite modern and contemporary paintings which were in a bad state of deterioration. 94 paintings were successfully conserved by the team of Regional Conservation Laboratory, Mysore from September, 2009 to June, 2010.

Conservation of Collection of Central Excise and Custom, Goa

Central Excise and Custom, Goa have a large collection of Metal objects, Textiles, Paintings, Leather and fur objects, Paper and Manuscripts etc. On the request of the Excise Commissioner, Goa conservation of these collections was taken up and successfully completed by the team of Regional Conservation Laboratory, Mysore from September, 2007 to March, 2008.

Maps Conservation of Revenue Department, UP, Lucknow

Revenue Department of Uttar Pradesh have a large collection of maps on agricultural land survey and most of these maps were in a very bad state of preservation. 9377 maps were successfully conserved by NRLC during the period from March, 2009 to April, 2013.

Conservation of Oil Paintings of Rabindra Bharti University’s Museum, Zaro Sako Campus, Kolkata

There are a big collection of oil paintings related to Guru Rabindra Nath Tagore. On the request of the Vice-Chancellor, Rabindra Bharti University, Kolkata conservation of 69 oil paintings was taken-up and successfully conserved.

Wall Painting Conservation of Karsha Monastry, Zanskar, Ladakh

Karsha Monastry in the valley of Zanskar had beautiful wall painting depicting various Buddha’s Themes. The building was collapsed due to the earthquake in that area and the wall having paintings were damaged. Zanskar Development Council requested NRLC to save the painting. The team of NRLC removed the painting from the wall and brought to Lucknow. The painting have been conserved and mounted on new aluminum and fiber glass support. In all, more than 200 sq.ft. of wall painting were conserved. Paintings will be given back to Karsha Monastry for display in their Museum.

Conservation of Suttur Maths Collection, Suttur, Mysore

Suttur Math has very good collection of different artifact. They received a grant under Museum Up-gradation Scheme under Ministry of Culture. Under that grant RCL, Mysore has carried out conservation of their artifact successfully in September, 2008 to September, 2009.

Paintings conservation of Arul Mighu Meenakshi Sundareshwarar Swamy Temple (Meenakshi Temple), Madurai

This temple has 124 Tanjore Paintings, 2 large size Canvas Painting known as Khagolam and Bhugolam depicting astrology, 2 Wall Paintings in the hall. Executive Officer of the Temple requested RCL, Mysore for conservation of these paintings. The Wall Paintings, hidden inside the different layers of whitewash, were reveled and conserved. Conservation of other painting was also completed successfully in November, 2007 to April, 2008.

Conservation of Mosaq Floors of Karanji Mansion (Postal Training Institute), Mysore

Karanji Mansion is one of the oldest historic structures of Mysore having beautifully designed floors made out of Italian Tiles. Some areas of the tiled floors were lost. Director of the Postal Training Institute requested RCL for conservation of this mosaq floors and attempts was made to get the similar tiles fabricated from the well known ceramic tiles manufacturers but failed to get such tiles fabricated. RCL, Mysore got this tile fabricated using commercially available synthetic material engaging the expert and the floors of the Karanji Mansion were restored.

Conservation of books of Central Secretariat Library, New Delhi

50 rare books belonging to the Central Secretariat Library, New Delhi brought to NRLC, Lucknow and conserved successfully in 2011-12.

Roerich Collection Conservation belong to Dr. Roerich and Devikarani Board, Bengalore

There is a very rich collection of Dr. Roerich housed in Venkatappa Art Gallery, Bengalore. On the request of the Executive Office, Roerich Board, conservation of 253 paintings was taken up by RCL, Mysore. Most of the paintings were heavily affected by fungal growth and in a very bad state of preservation. All the paintings were conserved in 2011-12.

Conservation of Temple Art at Swami Mallai Mahadeswara Temple, MM Hills, Kollegal, Karnataka

Swami Mallai Mahadeswara Temple is one of the oldest Shiva Temple in south has very beautiful carvings on its pillar’s roof wall in the Garbagruha and the Mandapam and even on the exterior of the temple. All the carvings were concealed inside the multilayered whitewash and shoot deposited over the year. On the request of District Collector, Regional Conservation Laboratory, Mysore has undertaken the project and completed successfully in November, 2006 – September, 2007. On treatment amaging carving and inscriptions were revealed.

Paint removal work Rushi Shringeshwara Swami Temple, Kigga, Shringeri, North Karnataka

Shringeshwara Swami is a old temple in North Karnataka. It is a stone sculpture and the paint was applied on it some time back which was deteriorated now disfiguring the carving. Temple authority tried to remove the paint using sand blasting which damaged stone structure further. When the matter came into the notice of District Collector, he requested RCL, Mysore for its conservation. RCL has taken up the project and removed the paint successfully without any damage on the structure.

Conservation of Wall Painting at the Hon’ble President’s study room of Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi

An esquisite wall painting is there on the sealing of Hon’ble President’s study room at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi. Active paint flaking, hand flex brittle paint layer were observed in many areas of the painting. On the request from Joint Secretary, Rashtrapati Bhawan, NRLC restored the painting during 19 to 20th December, 2013 when the Hon’ble President was on tour.

Conservation of KCS Panicker Paintings, State Museum & Zoos, Thiruvananthpuram

There are 38 large size paintings of artist KCS Panicker in the Museum. All the paintings were in a bad state of conservation. On the request of Director, Museum, Kerala Government conservation of these paintings was taken up.
